KARZ

Posted by ShareTuto

Karz Star Cast: Himesh Reshammiya, Urmila Matondkar, Feroz Khan
Director: Satish Kaushik
Music: Himesh Reshammiya

This is Indiana Jones and The Temple Of Dhoom. Creating dhoom in motions of staged frenzy is Himesh Reshammiya without his trademark cap but with so much hair you wonder if it’s there to tear after you go through two-and-a-half hours of drama and hysteria in “Karzzz”.

Many of Urmila’s chic gowns capture her in backless splendour. Whether matching steps with the rock star or pulling out all stops to mow her reborn lover-boy (Dino Morea turns into Himesh after the first 15 minutes) down with her zooming airplane (it was just a car in the original for poor Simi). Urmila is mean and seductive, in kill-kill measures.

A kitschy present-day, Farah Khan take-off on the ultra-popular ’70s Bollywood potboiler that, in her own words is a tribute to filmmaking. Om (Shah Rukh Khan) is a struggling junior artiste who is a regular on the sets of RC Studios. The son of junior artistes themselves, he aspires to become a big star any day and his dreams are bolstered by his filmy best friend Pappu (Shreyas Talpade) and his even more OTT filmy mother (Kirron Kher). He is also madly in love with Bollywood’s heartthrob, the ‘Dreamy Girl’ ShantiPriya (introducing Deepika Padukone!). Alas, she is someone else’s and he doesn’t get a chance to tell her about his love as his life comes to an untimely halt.

CHAK DE INDIA

Posted by ShareTuto

Cast: Shah Rukh Khan, Vidya Malvade and 16 Girls
Director: Shimit Amin

Chak De! India is the basic, every-single-sports-movie story of a disgraced player, here called Kabir Khan, pulling together a team of misfits to do the impossible — here winning the World Championship.

This is also a return to glory for Shah Rukh Khan, the superstar doing excellently as he tackles a cast with (almost) entirely deplorable acting chops and makes you believe. Director Shimit Amin shoves a hockey stick into the actor’s hand, and — fitter than he’s looked in years — Khan flies across cinematic AstroTurf, and shines.

TAARE ZAMEEN PAR

Posted by ShareTuto

Movie Title: Taare Zameen Par

Star Cast: Aamir Khan, Darsheel Safary, and Tisca Chopra

Music Directors: Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani, Loy Mendonca and Shailendra Barve

Producer: Aamir Khan

Story / Writer: Amol Gupte

Director: Aamir Khan

In short, the film is about a boy (played by Darsheel Safary) who has dyslexia and the hardships he goes through because of this disorder. It is commendable that Aamir Khan made a film about a disorder that many people in South Asia do not know about. This film will raise awareness for sure. Acting by Darsheel Safary is excellent. Watching Safary’s escapades in the first half is very entertaining but in the second half the movie loses steam.

The pace of the film is slow, and it drags quite a bit in the second half. Aamir Khan’s character does not make his entry until more than an hour into the film. And what an entry he makes - it seems no film is safe from an absurd bollywood song. In this one we have the teacher (Aamir Khan) dressed up as a clown dancing and singing with the class.

Aamir Khan is good (as always) but maybe a little over the top in the caring department. So much so that he has tears in his eyes throughout the movie. But these tears that stay in the eyes and never come out are mandatory in most Bollywood films it seems.

Considering the story is so simple, it would have been good if they had shortened the film a bit.
